With the majority of the country now self-isolating, many Brits are now in lockdown for at least another week.
Research has shown that germs and viruses can survive on hard surfaces for up to three days, so it is vital to make sure you keep your house as clean as possible during this time.
The Beautiful Method are here to help. Our cleaning expert and director Victoria Rothwell has listed some of her top tips below to make sure your house is as clean and free from germs as possible!
Although it is likely that you frequently wipe down your kitchen sides, dining table and coffee table you must ensure that you also remember to clean and wipe down other items that are frequently touched. These include doors, handles taps, kettles, remote controls, mobile phones and cupboard handles.
As you can’t be sure who has touched what and when in your household throughout the day it would be a good idea to plan that you wipe these down first thing in the morning and last thing at night so that you know the appliances are being wiped down on a regular basis.
Just like we suggested with washing your hands in our previous blog, we advise that you always clean your surfaces and appliances with soap and water when possible and prior to using disinfectant wipes. We also advise that when using disinfectant spray, you leave this on your untouched surfaces for around 30 seconds before wiping down with a warm damp cloth.
Ensure that you clean and sanitise your kitchen counter and tops on a daily basis.
Don’t forget that even though you are wiping down your surfaces and appliances with hot soapy water and a cloth, you need to ensure that the cloths/sponges that you are using are clean as they are likely to be teeming with germs!
An easy way to keep these clean is to pop the cloth/sponge into the washing machine or give it a good scrub with hot soapy water yourself. Another option is to put this in the microwave on high for a minute or two.
All of the measures above will help prevent the spread of coronavirus and help protect you and the people around you.
