If you follow us on social media, it probably doesn’t surprise you to know that Victoria is a HUGE Lucy Bee Coconut fan; whether she’s cooking with it, using it for skincare or making delicious drinking chocolate with coconut milk, Victoria is a big advocate for the benefits of coconut oil, especially when it comes to skincare. This weekend, with the children in tow, they set out making their own skincare products from Lucy Bee’s ‘Natural Beauty with Coconut Oil’ book. Not only are the products great for your skin and smell amazing, they had a great afternoon spending quality time as a family whilst keeping it fun yet educational. The kids had a fantastic time, as they were able to get stuck in and help their mum. So, why not give it a go this weekend? Here’s what they made!
The first product made was a Post-Gym Body Oil that can be found on page 62 of Lucy Bee’s book. The oil is beneficial as it contains Eucalyptus which is anti-inflammatory, so perfect for soothing sore muscles after those Jillian Michaels work outs! Making this with Hetty, one of the twins, Victoria said it was great fun watching her count the oil drops, although Victoria got a little told off by Hetty when she accidentally did a few too many drops of essential oil… but who can blame her, the Fresh Skin oilssmell amazing.
Floss also got stuck in and helped make the Pampering Body Scrub found on page 60. Exfoliation is an important part of any skincare routine as it helps to brighten the skin and remove any dead skin cells. They had loads of fun testing this one out when it was ready, and after a couple of uses Victoria says she has already noticed that her skin is noticeably smoother and softer.
The final product Victoria made with Teddy, which was the Whipped Coconut Body Butter found on page 68. As Teddy is a little older, Victoria was able to make the process more educational for him, as it involved heating the coconut oil and shea butter together until it became a liquid and then watching it again solidify in the fridge. This product also allowed them to consider how to be safe around heat in a fun and informative way. Aside from this, the outcome of the product is fantastic, it is a light and airy body butter that can be used daily and also smells divine. This is a great option for anyone who finds coconut oil to be a little too thick to use as a moisturizer alone.
There are loads of genuine benefits of Coconut Oil and the Lucy Bee website is extremely informative and useful for understanding these; there are various ways you can use coconut oil in your daily life so why not check those out here. Victoria massively recommends the Natural Beauty book and can’t wait to try more of the recipes; It’s an added bonus that it’s something you can do with the kids! You can’t beat spending an afternoon of fun with the little ones, though I’m pretty glad I wasn’t there to tidy up at the end….
